The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination is the first step toward becoming a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States. Administered by NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying), the FE is a computer-based exam consisting of 110 questions over 5 hours and 20 minutes. It is offered in seven discipline-specific versions: Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Computer, Environmental, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, and Other Disciplines.
